SSE Energy Group Award

Liverpool St Helens are celebrating the recent award of   £10,000 of funding from the SSE Energy group. SSE, a National Community Partner with the RFU, offered the prize to Rugby Clubs with the best and innovative ways of putting £10,000 worth of energy credits to use for the benefit of their local communities.

The club was able to demonstrate the massive developments and improvements in recent years at all levels of the club, minis, juniors, girls, colts and seniors as well as the significant work with local schools. In addition plans are well underway for Moss Lane to host a floodlit tournament in the spring specifically targeted at rugby clubs playing at the lower levels of the league system.

 LSH President Ray French was delighted with the award and thanked the RFU and SSE for their initiative. “These are the hidden costs in running a club like this and we are very grateful”, he said. “Mind you this doesn’t mean there’ll be any hot water for the lads, we’ll keep the showers just as they are” he joked, and then continued “but we might just have a few extra lights on the Christmas tree this year”.
