Noel and his twin brother Christopher both played for Liverpool FC (RU)  

 

Noel was killed on the 4th August 1917 aged 32 years, at the

battle of Passchendaele (Third Battle of Ypres).


Christopher, was a Padre during the War and was awarded an MC for his service.

His first curacy was in the Parish of St Mary in St Helens and whilst there he played

Rugby League as an Amateur for the Saints.

    He became Bishop of Rochester, retiring in 1960.

 

    Over the next few weeks there are several opportunities to celebrate the exceptional

    lives of these twin brothers.

 

    1               At the Museum of Liverpool Pier Head.

                     Noel’s medals are on prominent display having been loaned from the Imperial War                      Museum London. 


    2              In the Memorial Chapel of the Liverpool  Cathedral from Tuesday 12th September to

   Sunday 8th October there is an exhibition  celebrating the Chavasse Family.   

   Admission is Free.
