LSH HERITAGE LOTTERY FUND AWARD
To mark LSH’s achievement in obtaining a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund for the creation of an official archive of the history, growth and evolution of the world’s oldest open rugby club, a formal event and display of club historic material was held at Moss Lane, 11 February, 2017, ahead of the league match against Manchester. The fixture with Manchester dates back to 1860 as the oldest recorded game of Rugby in the North of England.
The display gave a brief insight into the Liverpool club from 1857, the St Helens club from 1919 and pictures and documents right through to the merger in 1986, and reference to the present day including the two key movers in the game played at Liverpool Cricket Ground, Edge Hill, on 19 December1857 -
The display was retained for Sunday 12 February to be viewed by The Colts and Mini and Junior sections of the club.
